How it can work

Generally, an organisation will have a vision of where it wants to get to and a strategy to get there. 

It will decide on a competency model which will underpin the strategic objective. At an individual level, the competence required of the organisation will be broken down into the competencies required at an individual level, be they executive, operational or administrative.

Hiring will be based on competencies sought and possessed. Training, development and learning will be focused on those competencies needing to be developed. Pay will be based on performance, whilst promotion will depend on succession planning and perceived ‘readiness’. Coaching accelerates this process. 

Whilst training teaches knowledge and skills, individualised coaching supports implementation through developing insight, motivation, and real-world practice in the face of accountabilities and results required.
